ACROSS THE CAUSEWAY
i really wish i would remember to USE my camera more often. went on a shopping daytrip to johor bahru with sheena and returned with only two spartan photos when the little city was actually a buzzing trove of cheap little shops (due muchly to the forgiving exchange rate) and, well, space. it certainly felt awesome to be walking around without having to navigate warm crowds like a champion jostler, and having the cab accelerate wantonly because the roads were bare.

girl and i taking a break outside Holiday Plaza, a Far East Plaza equivalent according to her. afternoon was sweltering.

ended the day with streetfare at appropriately dirty, smokey and hidden alley.
BAMBINI

dalliancing with streetdogs is extremely satisfactory, as i discovered with much delight. i was told they took the teeth from the leggy brown one because he’s got wicked eyes, abnormally turquoise for a mongrel puppy, but he really is as gentle and floppy as a newborn fawn.
POPPY AND MANDRAGORA

jinesh and i bought new cameras (joy!) almost concurrently – mine is toy-sized, his packed with awesome features. in the resultant jealous pique i’ve been spending good time undermining his camera’s functions while working out how to steal it from his pocket.

the pathos of tragic hair is offset by the discovery of cheap tomyum.
MEWWMOISELLE

visited the animal shelter and returned home smelling like drool and dogfood but kittenless, to the mother’s relief.
JUST ANOTHER DAY AT WORK

shopping for brains. ; )
TWO SPACES

the twigmedia office is quite the lumber room. giant red lanterns hang off the ceiling, ornamental spears and swords taller than myself rest in hidden corners and two talkative parakeets parley actively, particularly during lunchtime, in the workshop downstairs. all art studios should be like this, haunted by grime and lost treasures – careless wonder is a such lovely state for a meandering mind to be in.

as with all things sinful – i shouldn’t be, shouldn’t be, shouldn’t be back behind the bar – bartending in the mclaren-mercedes suite was huge fun. working again with ashley was delightful, especially after she persuaded the kitchen into bartering sushi for cocktails. the free flow was wicked, as was the beautiful crowd. yes lewis hamilton was around, close enough for me to see he’s got perfect skin but too well guarded for actual contact.
CHEAP THRILLS

the weekend unwound in thrift stores and flea markets, where i ammunised myself with enough clothes and sundry to outlast a war, and was thus awesome. thrift really makes sense, ie: seems less of a last resort, when one starts to think of most clothing as cloth-sewn-together ; fashion magnifies the sum of parts so disproportionately sometimes! also bought four paperbacks for five dollars which seriously puts the library to shame in light of the outrageous $30 fine it slapped me. i will draw up a reading list and then terrorise the salvation army bookstore with a fury.
INTO THE LUMBER ROOM

LASALLE SHOW

the lasalle degree-diploma show was surprisingly good, surprisingly magnificent. hazel and i were so distracted by the exhibition we neglected the freeflow until it was over. travesty? it would be a bigger one not to give $20000 worth of corrugated cardboard, that formed the backbone of the lovely degree showcase, due attention. a misaffinity with technology (specifically my dslr) means half the pictures i took that night went either lost, mis-exposed or blurry beyond salvation but it seems i have company – of the stack of namecards i collected, only eight portfolio websites actually worked, heehee.
ps: when you are a visionary, being insane only adds to your appeal. rest in peace michael jackson xx
